Pioneer Day

-

Our annual Pioneer Day will be held the last Saturday in April from 10:00 - 4:00. We cannot wait for you to join us for local crafts, music, food, demonstrations of heritage crafts, and more! Our friend's organization will be selling raffle tickets to help in the museum's education and outreach endeavors. $5 will give you a chance to win a chocolate lovers basket or a gardener basket. Or you can get 6 tickets for $10. After 38 years, this event is still free to attend and a fun time for all.

This year, we are happy to welcome Purpose, Carley and Daniel Thrailkill, and Possum Creek to the amphitheater as they entertain us this Pioneer Day.

Purpose won Male Group of the Year and Entertainer of the Year at the Music City Gospel Showcase in 2011. This gospel group travels through western North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida sharing their musical talent. If you want to hear more, ask them about their upcoming tour dates. We are excited to hear their songs at our amphitheater.

The roots duo of Carley and Daniel Thraikill bring their award-winning skills to this year's festival. Hailing from Newton, N.C., Carley is an award-winning fiddler, songwriter, and vocalist while Daniel and his band, the Trailblazers, have won numerous awards as well. Carley’s newest album “Colors” released on March 29th, 2024, and is available for purchase at their merch table. When they’re not on the road, Daniel makes his living rebinding Bibles at their home, and Carley is a full-time mama to their little girl, Eliana.

Local bluegrass and folk band Possum Creek has been playing together since 2009. When not performing at various events around Western N.C., you can catch them at the museum most Sundays during their afternoon jam session.
